Buffing Wheel Kit contains one 4" diameter cloth wheel and one 2-oz stick of red buffing compound. This buffing wheel can be used with a hand held pwer drill or a stationary motor to buff and polish acrylic plexiglass edges or light scratches.
Prepare edges for buffing: Remove saw cuts with our edge scraper or sand edges with 150 grit sand paper followed by 400 grit or higher (600 grit is preferable).
Using hand-held drill: Attach the buffing wheel to a hand-held drill using our Arbor Adapter (sold separately) or other suitable arbor adapter. Clamp piece to be buffed firml in place. With wheel spinning, pass tube of buffing compound across the edge of the wheel until coated. Apply wheel lightly to edge of work.
Using with stationary motor: With wheel spinning, apply tube of buffing compound across the edge of the wheel until coated. Grasp work firmly and apply it lightly against the edge of the wheel. Excess pressure can cause the wheel to catch your work and pull it out of your hands.
General Tips: Always apply compound to wheel, not the piece being buffed. Keep work or buffing wheel in onstant motion to prevent over heating of material.
Cleaning Buffing Wheel: Hold the edge of a file or hacksaw blade against the wheel as it revolves to remove old dry compound.
Always wear safety glasses or goggles. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing. Work in well-ventilated area and wear a mask suitable for sanding and buffing acrylic plexiglass or other plastics.
